A premium tea brand that began in the UK, Teapigs was created by tea lovers with the aim to drive the industry towards modernisation and sustainability.
Who better than tea enthusiasts can create just the right flavour of tea? Teapigs was launched by tea lovers, Louise Cheadle and Nick Kilby, in 2006, with funding from Tata Consumer Products. The aim was simple — to get the UK drinking better quality tea. Teapigs wanted to provide tea that was more relevant to the modern tea drinker.
The duo successfully launched their tea temples — a roomy, biodegradable pyramid mesh bag, containing high quality, whole leaf tea — in the UK market. Teapigs is now a leading, super-premium brand of tea in the UK, with distribution in thousands of independent quality food stores, cafes, restaurants, pubs, hotels and major supermarkets. The company based in Brentford, West London sells to over 40 countries, including Canada, Australia, China, Japan, Russia, Norway, Sweden and France. They have also opened an office in Brooklyn to drive sales in the rapidly expanding tea market in the US.
In 2018, Teapigs became the first tea brand in the UK to use the Plastic Free logo on its tea temple range, as verified by A Plastic Planet — a UK movement that aims to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic used in food and drink worldwide. With a significant ecommerce business and a strong digital presence, Teapigs is modern in the true sense.
